Mountains at the Wägitalersee

Hiking Adventures at the Uetliberg

In the late 19th century local alpinists discovered the Uetliberg (Webcam) as their playground. They built several cottages and beautiful single trails that lead to the Uetliberg. Some trails have short "climbing-like" sections which are secured with chains, ladders etc. It is said that the steepest trail was built by a baker who climbed up to the Uetliberg every day to deliver his bread. You can find some very nice photos from those old days on the website of the museum of Zurich-Wiedikon.
Today most of the cottages are abandoned and the trails are only known to a few people. Discover with me those old trails and experience a little outdoor adventure right next to the city.

Guiding is CHF 40 per hour.

Below the figures and pictures from a possible hike starting at the Triemli Train Station to the Uetliberg and further to the cottage Jurablick:

- Length: 4,2 km
- Highest point: 870 m
- Total climb: 519 m
- Total descent: 258 m
